Gabon was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lifting equipment exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Senegal (X%), Morocco (X%) and Namibia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Tunisia (X%) and South Africa (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Gabon, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2023, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Gabon ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tunisia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Africa

In 2023, the amount of lifting equipment imported in Africa surged to X units, with an increase of X% on 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2023 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, lifting equipment imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Overall, imports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Botswana (X units) and Ghana (X units) represented the largest importers of lifting equipment in 2023, reaching near X% and X% of total imports, respectively.
