Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2022, South Africa (X tons) represented the major exporter of labels of paper or paperboard, achieving X% of total exports. Kenya (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Uganda (X%) and Tanzania (X%). Tunisia (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Madagascar (X tons), Rwanda (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Mauritius (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Rwanda (X%), Ghana (X%), Uganda (X%), Madagascar (X%), Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Kenya (X%), Tunisia (X%) and Tanzania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Mauritius experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Kenya (X p.p.), Uganda (X p.p.), Ghana (X p.p.), Rwanda (X p.p.) and Madagascar (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of South Africa (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest paper label supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Uganda, with an X% share.
In South Africa, paper label exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kenya (X% per year) and Uganda (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Mozambique was also the fastest-growing in terms of the labels of paper or paperboard imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), Zambia (X%), Senegal (X%), Tanzania (X%), South Africa (X%), Kenya (X%), Togo (X%), Lesotho (X%) and Cameroon (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Morocco (X%), Nigeria (X%) and Angola (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mozambique, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Zambia and Senegal increased by X, X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest paper label importing markets in Africa were Morocco ($X), Kenya ($X) and Tanzania ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Tanzania, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
