The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
South Africa was the major exporter of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons in Africa, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X tons), achieving a X% share of total exports. Uganda (X tons), Kenya (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Rwanda (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from South Africa increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Rwanda (X%), Uganda (X%) and Tunisia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports dropped to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
