Wood Charcoal Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022

The average wood charcoal import price stood at $689 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The import price peaked at $689 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,258 per ton), while the price for Ghana ($125 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Djibouti (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average wood charcoal export price amounted to $797 per ton, picking up by 46% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 83%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $990 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($3,064 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($341 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Wood Charcoal Imports in Oman

In 2022, purchases abroad of wood charcoal decreased by -21.5% to 13K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 1.3%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 17K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood charcoal imports skyrocketed to $9.1M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
