In 2022, approx. 8.5K tons of wood charcoal were produced in Latvia; waning by -10.5% against 2021 figures. Overall, production continues to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, production reached the peak volume at 13K tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wood charcoal production rose markedly to $8.3M in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated a perceptible expansion from 2017 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last five-year period. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
