Waferboard Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average waferboard export price amounted to $567 per cubic meter, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 25% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $718 per cubic meter in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($891 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Poland ($240 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Waferboard Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average waferboard import price amounted to $304 per cubic meter, reducing by -5.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 12% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $339 per cubic meter. From January 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($402 per cubic meter), while the price for the Czech Republic ($214 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Waferboard Exports in Italy
Waferboard exports from Italy declined to 595K cubic meters in 2022, waning by -3.7% against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 13%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 618K cubic meters, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
In value terms, waferboard exports amounted to $370M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
