Vinegar Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

The average vinegar export price stood at $487 per ton in September 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $916 per ton. From May 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($947 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($336 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vinegar Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2022

The average vinegar import price stood at $1,821 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -21.4% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,316 per ton in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,098 per ton), while the price for Poland ($931 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vinegar Exports in Lithuania

For the fourth consecutive year, Lithuania recorded growth in shipments abroad of vinegar, which increased by 11% to 6K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, vinegar exports skyrocketed to $2.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
