Video Game Console Price in Romania (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average video game console import price amounted to $461 per unit, which is down by -3.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $581 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($707 per unit), while the price for China ($78 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+24.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Video Game Console Price in Romania (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average video game console export price amounted to $806 per unit, declining by -9.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 47% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,043 per unit. From March 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($1,396 per unit), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($665 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Video Game Console Imports in Romania

In 2022, purchases abroad of video game consoles (not operated by means of payments) decreased by -26.9% to 112K units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 154K units, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, video game console imports reduced dramatically to $52M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $74M in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 51%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 49K units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, video game console exports declined significantly to $24M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $42M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
