Vegetable Product Price in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022

The average vegetable product export price stood at $523 per ton in December 2021, with an increase of 17% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a moderate expansion from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.9% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, vegetable product export price increased by +47.9% against October 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2021 when the average export price increased by 88% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $578 per ton. From August 2021 to December 2021, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($761 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($320 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vegetable Product Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average vegetable product import price amounted to $1,859 per ton, declining by -10.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 145%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,028 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($2,583 per ton), while the price for the UK ($1,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vegetable Product Exports in Tanzania

For the fourth year in a row, Tanzania recorded growth in shipments abroad of vegetable products, which increased by 1,487% to 5.5K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, vegetable product exports skyrocketed to $6.9M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
