Global sugar cane consumption amounted to X thousand tonnes in 2015, moving up by +X% against the previous year level. Overall, the global sugar cane consumption indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total consumption volume increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the output figure increased by +X% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global sugar cane consumption reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Global Sugar Cane Consumption
With nearly X thousand tonnes, Brazil became the world’s leading sugar cane consuming country, comprising X% of global consumption. The other major consumers were India (X thousand tonnes) and China (X thousand tonnes), with a share of X% and X%, respectively. Moreover, sugar cane consumption in Brazil surpassed the figures recorded by India twofold. They were followed by Thailand with a X% of global consumption share and Pakistan with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of sugar cane consumption in Brazil stood at +X%. The remaining consuming countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: India (-X% per year) and China (+X% per year).
Per capita sugar cane in Brazil was estimated at X kg/year, much higher than the global average of X kg/year. Brazil was the leading country in terms of per capita consumption, among the main consumers of sugar cane, followed by Thailand (X kg/year), Pakistan (X kg/year), India (X kg/year) and China (X kg/year).
In Thailand, per capita sugar cane consumption has grown noticably (+X% per year) in recent years. In 2015, Thailand per capita consumption reached X kg/year as compared with X kg/year in 2007.
