Vegetable and Melon Price in Spain (FOB) - 2022

The average vegetable and melon export price stood at $1,322 per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 11%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($1,687 per ton), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($650 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average vegetable and melon import price amounted to $696 per ton, surging by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $744 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
