Travel Set Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average travel set import price amounted to $1.4 per unit, with an increase of 5.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1.8 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Lebanon ($1.4 per unit) and Kyrgyzstan ($1.3 per unit), while the price for Uganda ($1.3 per unit) and China ($1.3 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Travel Set Price in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022

The average travel set export price stood at $2.2 per unit in 2022, falling by -40.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a sharp reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $65 per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Zambia ($15 per unit), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($1.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Zambia (-12.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Travel Set Imports in Tanzania

In 2022, approx. 113K units of travel sets were imported into Tanzania; with an increase of 54% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 211% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 113K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, travel set imports soared to $153K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 155%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
