Television Receiver Price in New Zealand (CIF) - 2023

The average television receiver import price stood at $421 per unit in September 2023, rising by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated temperate growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, television receiver import price increased by +17.7% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $529 per unit in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($774 per unit), while the price for China ($182 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Television Receiver Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average television receiver export price amounted to $413 per unit, reducing by -7.1% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, television receiver export price decreased by -17.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $501 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($665 per unit), while the average price for exports to India ($182 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Television Receiver Imports in New Zealand

In 2022, television receiver imports into New Zealand shrank to 476K units, reducing by -5.7% against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 505K units, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, television receiver imports plummeted to $176M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 67%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $207M, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
