In 2016, approx. 978K tonnes of monitor were exported worldwide; approximately equating the previous year figure. Overall, monitor exports continue to indicate a measured decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008, an increase of 12% y-o-y. Global monitor export peaked of 1.5M tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, monitor exports amounted to $85B in 2016. In general, monitor exports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. Global monitor export peaked of $124B in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Monitor Exports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of monitor exports in 2016 were Slovakia (192K tonnes), Poland (134K tonnes), Hungary (120K tonnes), the Netherlands (97K tonnes), Czech Republic (75K tonnes), South Korea (67K tonnes), Turkey (58K tonnes), and Germany (40K tonnes), together finishing at 80% of total export. Indonesia (25K tonnes), United Arab Emirates (24K tonnes), and Sweden (17K tonnes) held the weak share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of monitor exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by the Netherlands (+46.5% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Slovakia ($6.2B), Poland ($4B) and the Netherlands ($3.1B) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2016, with a combined 16% share of global exports.Hungary, South Korea, Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, Indonesia, Sweden and United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

Indonesia (+21.3% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of monitor exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Monitor Export Prices By Country

The average monitor export price stood at $87 per kg in 2016, dropping by -6.7% against the previous year. In general, monitor export price continues to indicate a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when it surged by 11% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average monitor export price reached its maximum level of $96 per kg in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($52 per kg), while United Arab Emirates ($15 per kg) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of monitor export prices was attained by Indonesia (+16.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
