Taro (Cocoyam) Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average taro (cocoyam) import price stood at $2,156 per ton in October 2023, which is down by -14% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,519 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Saint Vincent and the Grenadines ($3,275 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($619 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Taro (Cocoyam) Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average taro (cocoyam) export price amounted to $3,339 per ton, which is down by -4.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 34% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,182 per ton. From July 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Iceland ($4,477 per ton) and Norway ($3,374 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($3,223 per ton) and the UK ($3,339 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Taro (Cocoyam) Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, supplies from abroad of taro decreased by -12.3% to 2.5K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth.
