Taro (Cocoyam) Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average taro (cocoyam) import price amounted to $2,460 per ton, rising by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, taro (cocoyam) import price increased by +61.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,515 per ton in 2015; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($5,516 per ton), while the price for Vietnam amounted to $2,137 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cambodia (+41.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average taro (cocoyam) export price amounted to $4,976 per ton, growing by 31% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($6,548 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($3,584 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Taro (Cocoyam) Imports in the Czech Republic

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of taro, when their volume decreased by -55.5% to 14 tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 71% against the previous year.

In value terms, taro (cocoyam) imports fell significantly to $35K in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 113%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $67K, and then declined notably in the following year.
