Sweet Potato Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
The average sweet potato import price stood at $1,558 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -12.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,781 per ton in July 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Honduras ($2,320 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,131 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Honduras (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Potato Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022
The average sweet potato export price stood at $984 per ton in 2022, picking up by 2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,245 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Netherlands.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to -2.3% per year.
Sweet Potato Imports in Norway
Sweet potato imports into Norway expanded slightly to 4K tons in 2022, growing by 2.7% on 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, sweet potato imports contracted to $5.7M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The smallest decline of -4.6% was in 2021.

Sweet Potato Exports in Norway
In 2022, overseas shipments of sweet potatoes decreased by -1.4% to 13 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 2.9%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 13 tons, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
In value terms, sweet potato exports reached $13K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
