In July 2023, the average stainless steel angle export price amounted to $2,824 per ton, which is down by -16.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,177 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,804 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($764 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Stainless Steel Angle Price in India (CIF) - 2022

The average stainless steel angle import price stood at $2,090 per ton in 2022, surging by 27% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,433 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,564 per ton), while the price for Japan ($1,508 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Stainless Steel Angle Exports in India

In 2022, the amount of angles, shapes and sections of stainless steel or other alloy steel exported from India contracted remarkably to 54K tons, which is down by -31.5% on the previous year. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 40%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 79K tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, stainless steel angle exports shrank to $193M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 67%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $212M, and then reduced in the following year.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 174% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, stainless steel angle imports skyrocketed to $19M in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 195% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
