Spices; Turmeric (Curcuma) Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average spices; turmeric (curcuma) import price amounted to $3,301 per ton, picking up by 14% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated modest growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, spices; turmeric (curcuma) import price decreased by -22.5% against March 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 111% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,004 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,925 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($2,712 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jamaica (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
