Shampoo Price in Azerbaijan (CIF) - 2023

The average shampoo import price stood at $2,752 per ton in May 2023, dropping by -16.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $3,287 per ton in April 2023, and then declined markedly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($4,345 per ton), while the price for Iran ($1,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shampoo Price in Azerbaijan (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average shampoo export price amounted to $2,512 per ton, growing by 4.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 105% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,875 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($22,844 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,920 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+98.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shampoo Imports in Azerbaijan

For the fourth year in a row, Azerbaijan recorded growth in overseas purchases of shampoos, which increased by 2.3% to 10K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, shampoo imports expanded markedly to $28M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Shampoo Exports in Azerbaijan

In 2022, shipments abroad of shampoos decreased by -35.6% to 8.6 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 196%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 28 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, shampoo exports contracted sharply to $22K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 460% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $110K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
