The average seafood product import price stood at $7,489 per ton in August 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 6.7% against the previous month. The import price peaked in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($14,844 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($3,640 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
