Refrigerator and Freezer Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022

The average refrigerator and freezer export price stood at $226 per unit in 2022, waning by -1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $265 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($277 per unit), while the average price for exports to the UK ($168 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average refrigerator and freezer import price amounted to $272 per unit, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $278 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($786 per unit), while the price for Romania ($170 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Refrigerator and Freezer Exports in Turkey

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of refrigerators and freezers, when their volume decreased by -2.3% to 7.5M units. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 7.7M units, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, refrigerator and freezer exports fell slightly to $1.7B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.8B, and then contracted in the following year.

Refrigerator and Freezer Imports in Turkey

In 2022, supplies from abroad of refrigerators and freezers decreased by -28.3% to 347K units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 8%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 562K units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refrigerator and freezer imports declined to $94M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $106M in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
