Quinoa Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022

The average quinoa import price stood at $2,002 per ton in 2022, rising by 2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 14%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,230 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Greece ($2,292 per ton) and the Netherlands ($2,188 per ton), while the price for Peru ($1,829 per ton) and India ($1,907 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Quinoa Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2022

The average quinoa export price stood at $2,740 per ton in 2022, increasing by 2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 19%. The export price peaked at $12,390 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,839 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($2,213 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Quinoa Imports in Bulgaria

In 2022, quinoa imports into Bulgaria totaled 455 tons, growing by 5.7% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 7%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, quinoa imports rose significantly to $910K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Quinoa Exports in Bulgaria
