The average export price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn stood at $1,807 per ton in October 2023, increasing by 8.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,082 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,442 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,710 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn stood at $3,009 per ton in September 2023, growing by 15% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 157% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,617 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($3,223 per ton), while the price for France stood at $2,209 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn decreased by -16.6% to 748 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 31%.
In value terms, exports of wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn contracted to $1.8M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2M, and then shrank in the following year.
