The average import price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn stood at $6,255 per ton in 2022, dropping by -14.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 58%. The import price peaked at $7,652 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($11,487 per ton), while the price for Norway ($3,758 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
