Price for Wine; Still, in Containers Holding 2 Litres or Less in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses stood at $1.6 per litre in November 2023, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2.5 per litre in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($541 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses stood at $1.5 per litre in November 2023, waning by -33.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 104% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3.1 per litre. From April 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($7.3 per litre), while the price for Germany ($709 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses decreased by -4.3% to 33M litres, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 35M litres. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses fell to $62M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 10% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $69M, and then contracted in the following year.
