In 2022, the average export price for cereal grains; rolled or flaked, of cereals excluding barley and oatses amounted to $252 per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $847 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Sudan ($255 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($207 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for cereal grains; rolled or flaked, of cereals excluding barley and oatses stood at $609 per ton in 2022, declining by -6.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 350%. The import price peaked at $1,083 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,946 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($101 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Cereal Grains; Rolled or Flaked, of Cereals Excluding Barley and Oats in Uganda
For the fourth year in a row, Uganda recorded growth in shipments abroad of cereal grains; rolled or flaked, of cereals excluding barley and oatses, which increased by 0.5% to 15 tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of cereal grains; rolled or flaked, of cereals excluding barley and oatses stood at $3.9K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced decrease.
