Price for Wine of Fresh Grapes in France (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average wine of fresh grapes export price amounted to $7.4 per litre, dropping by -2.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $8.0 per litre in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($12.9 per litre), while the average price for exports to Germany ($3.4 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average wine of fresh grapes import price amounted to $1.4 per litre, shrinking by -7.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 84% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3.0 per litre. From November 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($4.5 per litre), while the price for Spain ($566 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Wine of Fresh Grapes in France

Wine of fresh grapes exports from France dropped to 1.2B litres in 2022, declining by -6.1% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 4.1%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.3B litres, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, wine of fresh grapes exports dropped to $8B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $8.5B, and then fell in the following year.
