In December 2023, the average export price for white sugar (containing >= 99,5% sucrose) and chemically pure sucrose amounted to $975 per ton, increasing by 5.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in December 2023.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were New Caledonia ($1,026 per ton) and Wallis and Futuna Islands ($1,003 per ton), while the average price for exports to French Polynesia ($729 per ton) and Singapore ($765 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Solomon Islands (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
