In February 2022, the average import price for vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen amounted to $1,223 per ton, waning by -7.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2021 an increase of 5% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,320 per ton in January 2022, and then reduced in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($1,800 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,112 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In February 2022, the average export price for vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen amounted to $2,421 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 34% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,499 per ton in February 2021; however, from March 2021 to February 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In February 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Canada ($2,869 per ton) and Chile ($2,766 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,245 per ton) and the United States ($2,338 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, Colombia recorded growth in purchases abroad of vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen, which increased by 22% to 22K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +77.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, imports of vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen skyrocketed to $30M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
