In 2022, the average export price for tungsten (wolfram); waste and scraps amounted to $10,620 per ton, with a decrease of -23.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 69% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $16,457 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($22,163 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($1,935 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2022 an increase of 62% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $23,614 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to December 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($15,136 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,597 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
