The average import price for steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia stood at $12,677 per ton in 2022, surging by 36% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 129%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $26,820 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($59,509 per ton), while the price for Japan ($8,512 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia stood at $3,111 per ton in December 2023, growing by 3.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 22% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,736 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($6,737 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($845 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia decreased by -30.6% to 6.8K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.7K tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, imports of steel, stainless; (excluding cold-drawn or cold-rolled), tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia fell to $86M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $91M, and then reduced in the following year.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.7% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
