In 2022, the average import price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia amounted to $7,641 per ton, declining by -9.7% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia increased by +47.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,283 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Maldives.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia contracted to $527K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year.
