In 2022, the average import price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $5,156 per ton, surging by 19% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($10,277 per ton), while the price for India ($3,785 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $5,570 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($7,693 per ton), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($2,648 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +107.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 50%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses rose modestly to $107M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +59.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
