The average export price for silicon; containing by weight not less than 99.99% of silica stood at $76,255 per ton in December 2023, surging by 22% against the previous month. In general, the export price enjoyed a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 133% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $153K per ton. From July 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($210K per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan totaled $73,601 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for silicon; containing by weight not less than 99.99% of silica amounted to $9,310 per ton, reducing by -50.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 38%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $18,685 per ton in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($37,709 per ton), while the price for Germany totaled $8,721 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +87.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.3M, leveling off in the following year.
