In 2022, the average soap in different forms import price amounted to $1,048 per ton, with an increase of 8.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,264 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($2,204 per ton), while the price for Iran ($236 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Soap in Different Forms in Oman (FOB) - 2022

The average soap in different forms export price stood at $1,084 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 23%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,694 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($1,815 per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Soap in Different Forms in Oman

In 2022, approx. 5.8K tons of soap in different forms were imported into Oman; with a decrease of -1.6% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.9K tons, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

In value terms, soap in different forms imports expanded notably to $6.1M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease.
