In December 2023, the average export price for silicon; containing by weight less than 99.99% of silica amounted to $2,045 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.8% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,326 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the UK ($2,366 per ton) and Mexico ($2,187 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,862 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,915 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (-1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
