The average import price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds stood at $2.1 per square meter in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2.4 per square meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($4.5 per square meter), while the price for China ($0.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2.2 per square meter in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($2.4 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($919 per thousand square meters) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +77.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
