In October 2023, the average import price for peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds amounted to $131 per ton, shrinking by -2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $169 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($194 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($74.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 45% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $255 per ton in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($488 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($187 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
