Peat Imports By Country
In 2016, Germany (X tons), and the Netherlands (X tons) represented the major importers of peat in the globe, together achieving X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Ireland (X tons), the U.S. (X tons), the UK (X tons), France (X tons), and Belgium (X tons), together creating X% share of total peat imports. Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons), and Poland (X tons) held the weak share of total imports.
From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of peat imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by the Netherlands (+X% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the U.S. ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported peat worldwide, making up X% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($X), with the share of X% of global imports. It was followed by France, with the share of X%.
From 2007 to 2016, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value of peat imports in the U.S. expanded at +X%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and France (-X% per year).

The average peat import price stood at $X per ton in 2016, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +X growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when it surged by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average peat import price reached its maximum level in 2016, and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($X per ton), while Ireland ($X per ton) was among the lowest.
