Price for Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021

The average grapes; fresh or dried import price stood at $1,864 per ton in December 2021, increasing by 63% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated temperate growth from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, grapes; fresh or dried import price increased by +112.8% against September 2021 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Iran ($3,541 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($586 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average grapes; fresh or dried export price amounted to $874 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, grapes; fresh or dried export price increased by +5.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 55% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,544 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($3,352 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($372 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+43.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Grapes; Fresh or Dried in Kuwait

In 2022, approx. 15K tons of grapes; fresh or drieds were imported into Kuwait; picking up by 5.6% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 16K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, grapes; fresh or dried imports totaled $19M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
