The average import price for peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds stood at $239 per ton in October 2023, falling by -2.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $262 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($300 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($126 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds stood at $389 per ton in 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $562 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($695 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($167 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+23.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
