In October 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $559 per ton, rising by 1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 46% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,202 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($1,441 per ton), while the price for Iran ($139 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $281 per ton in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Iran.
