In December 2023, the average import price for sunflower seed amounted to $1,673 per ton, with an increase of 49% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated perceptible growth from December 2022 to December 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2023 figures, import price for sunflower seed increased by +49.3% against November 2023 indices. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,009 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($2,133 per ton), while the price for Russia ($767 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
