In October 2023, the average import price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds amounted to $7,336 per ton, rising by 7.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 29% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9,163 per ton. From May 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($12,223 per ton), while the price for Mozambique ($5,299 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds amounted to $9,272 per ton, increasing by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The export price peaked at $13,806 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($12,100 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($8,096 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
