In 2022, the average import price for non-soap washing and cleaning preparations amounted to $1,011 per ton, waning by -10.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 21%. The import price peaked at $1,601 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($6,640 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($454 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+30.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of Non-Soap Washing and Cleaning Preparations in Tanzania

In 2022, imports of non-soap washing and cleaning preparations into Tanzania dropped modestly to 35K tons, leveling off at 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the last three years.
