Cosmetics Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022

The average cosmetics export price stood at $23,946 per ton in 2022, which is down by -7.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 11%. The export price peaked at $27,307 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($31,093 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($14,648 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cosmetics Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022

The average cosmetics import price stood at $16,669 per ton in 2022, declining by -4.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 13%. The import price peaked at $19,813 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($37,823 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($9,760 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cosmetics Exports in Italy

In 2022, the amount of cosmetics exported from Italy rose remarkably to 100K tons, with an increase of 12% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, cosmetics exports rose to $2.4B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 14%.
