In 2016, the global skin care exports stood at 2.1M tonnes, declining by -4.5% against the previous year figure. Overall, skin care exports continue to indicate a perceptible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013, when it surged by 61% from the previous year level. In that year, global skin care exports attained its maximum volume of 3.4M tonnes. From 2014 to 2016, growth of global skin care exports stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, skin care exports amounted to $42B in 2016. Overall, it indicated a prominent increase from 2007 to 2016: the total exports value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, skin care exports increased by +81.1% against its level of 2007. Global skin care export peaked in 2016, and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

Skin Care Exports By Country

France (274K tonnes), Germany (223K tonnes), Poland (161K tonnes), China (153K tonnes), Spain (146K tonnes), South Korea (119K tonnes), the UK (100K tonnes), Italy (77K tonnes), the Netherlands (61K tonnes), Thailand (58K tonnes), South Africa (48K tonnes), and Japan (48K tonnes) represented roughly 71% of total exports of skin care in 2016.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of skin care exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by South Korea (+27.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($7.3B) remains the largest skin care supplier in the world, making up 17% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by South Korea ($3.4B), with the share of 8% of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with the share of 8%.

In France, skin care exports stood at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2007-2016. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Korea (+33.1% per year) and Germany (+2.3% per year).

Skin Care Export Prices By Country

The average skin care export price stood at $20 per kg in 2016, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Overall, it indicated a measured expansion from 2007 to 2016: the export price value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, skin care export price increased by +93.6% against its level of 2013. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014, when export increased by 73% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, average skin care export price attained its maximum level in 2016, and is expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Japan ($42 per kg), while South Africa ($4,789 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of skin care export prices was attained by China (+5.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
