In 2022, the average import price for mushrooms and truffles, other than of the genus "agaricus" amounted to $2,477 per ton, dropping by -44.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $4,453 per ton in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,000 per ton), while the price for Italy ($273 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+26.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for mushrooms and truffles, other than of the genus "agaricus" amounted to $1,692 per ton, increasing by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The export price peaked at $2,737 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($15,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($37 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cote d'Ivoire (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of mushrooms and truffles, other than of the genus "agaricus" were finally on the rise to reach 256 kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a precipitous decrease.

In value terms, imports of mushrooms and truffles, other than of the genus "agaricus" reduced rapidly to $634 in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The smallest decline of -22.6% was in 2021.

In 2022, overseas shipments of mushrooms and truffles, other than of the genus "agaricus" decreased by -35% to 65 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 102% against the previous year.

In value terms, exports of mushrooms and truffles, other than of the genus "agaricus" reduced markedly to $110 in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +42.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year.
