In 2022, the average export price for medium density fibreboard (MDF) of thickness under 5 mm amounted to $882 per ton, surging by 46% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 73% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($720,262 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burundi ($326,400 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
